This was an opportunity to collaborate with head and neck surgeons in Ghana in providing reconstructive services to various patients. Among the procedures performed was the first ever microvasculas free tissue transplantation performed for head and neck reconsturction in a patient who had a hole his cheek resulting from a previous cancer surgery. The fprocedure went smoothly and patient recovered without incident. We hope to extend our microvascular surgical expertise in taking care of patients in Ghana. Other procedures performed during this mission included an tympanoplasty and forehead flaps for total nasal reconstruction. |
