A classic sign of the aging face is voulme loss resulting in the deflatted look and sagging skin. With volume loss, loose skin responds more to gravity resulting in undesirable folds, shadows and bulges under the eyes, cheeks, jowls and neck. The traditional approach to correcting these changes rely on stretching skin, hence " facelifts" or "eyelifts".  Injectible tissue fillers are now available to allow restoration of some of the volume loss seen in the aging face. Injectible fillers have gained significant popularity because of the minimally invasive alternative they provide to restoring facial voulme and rejuvenation.  The common fillers used in our practice include Restylane, Juviderm and Radiesse.

Restylane® and Juviderm

Restylane and Juviderm are cosmetic dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane  and Juviderm is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane and Juviderm maintain their shape using the body's own moisture. As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

Is Restylane® or Juviderm the right treatment for you?

Restylane® has been used in more than 4 million treatments7 in over 70 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lip border. It is currently approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Both restylane and Juviderm can also be used in selected cases to improve dark circles around the eyes.

Radiesse®

Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure.

Radiesse® is ideal for the treatment of lines and wrinkles around the nose,  mouth and jawline . These lines are typically above the mouth, running from the nose to the corners of the upper lip (Nasolabial Folds), or pointing down from the corner of the mouth towards the chin (Marionette Lines).
